Ashtanga Yoga Practice Workshops

Deepen Your Understanding of Ashtanga Yoga

Refine your technique, breath, movement, and awareness
With Eskil Schilling, SYC Level II Teacher

Ashtanga practice begins with clarity and understanding. When your purpose is clear and awareness steady, each movement becomes more accessible, meaningful, and rewarding.

These in-depth workshops provide direction, insight, and a deeper grasp of both the structure and essence of the Ashtanga method. You’ll explore how to harmonize breath, movement, and awareness while learning the foundational principles that support the whole practice.

Through detailed exploration of key asanas, you’ll study correct vinyasas, breathing techniques, and transitions—how to coordinate breath and movement, enter and exit postures safely, and cultivate stability, focus, and ease. You’ll receive intelligent, practical guidance on working skillfully with challenging poses according to your body and abilities.

The workshops also connect the physical practice with yoga philosophy and personal development, revealing how Ashtanga can become a deep inner journey extending beyond the mat.

Ashtanga yoga is a process of patience, dedication, and mindful effort—with profound rewards. These workshops will help you find clarity in your path, deepen self-connection, and experience the transformative potential of this method.

All levels are welcome—beginners, dedicated practitioners, and teachers alike. Workshops are held in English, if there are participants who do not speak Danish.

All workshops include:

  • In-depth technical, structural, and methodological instruction to the poses
  • Correct vinyasa count, breathing technique, and corresponding movements
  • Work with rhythm, focus, coordination, stability, and relaxation
  • Guidance on modification and adaptation for different body types or injuries
  • Relevant yoga philosophy and time for questions and answers

In this workshop we will work systematically through the movements in Sun Salutations. We will look at the details of the different poses, practice synchronizing breath and movement, and methods to link the sequences together, so that flow and ease arise in the practice.

Stability, strength and balance

Standing poses with grace and strength!

In the Astanga yoga practice the standing poses are the foundation of the practice that builds strength, balance and stability. In these poses you learn to balance, find core strength and connect to the ground while reaching, stretching and twisting the body. We look at ways of finding ease, comfort and stability while connection to the ground using good positioning technique, breath and bandhas.

The strength from the practice comes with time. As with any discipline, steadfast effort and enthusiasm help to move us on the path. Keeping in mind that the physicality of this practice opens doors for strengthening a positive and encouraging self-dialogue, and our ability to observe and witness our mind.

Appropriate for all levels of practitioner, even if you have no experience with Astanga.
